The Legends scored four runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by Zachary Johnson's two-run single, to erase a 3-2 deficit and go on to a 6-3 victory Thursday to open a home stand against the Hagerstown Suns.
John Hinson and James Howick hit back-to-back one-out singles in the decisive inning to chase Suns reliever Christian Meza (2-1). Gregory Holt then gave up a walk to Delino DeShields to load the bases, and walked Jordan Scott to tie the game 3-3. Johnson, who had a solo homer in the first inning, followed with a grounder to right field. Scott then scored on Matt Duffy's sacrifice fly for the game's final run.
Legends starter Jonas Dufek pitched into the sixth before giving up a two-out double to Brett Newsome followed by an RBI single by Caleb Ramsey that put the Suns up 3-2. Reliever Murilo Gouvea (1-0) picked off Ramsey trying to steal second to end the inning. Gouvea pitched two more innings, and after a leadoff groundout in the seventh, he struck out the next five batters in a row.
