The Lexington Legends scored all seven of their runs with two outs on the board in a 7-3 defeat of the Kannapolis Intimidators on Friday night in North Carolina.
Brandon Meredith led the Legends with four hits and John Hinson had three RBI.
With the Legends down 2-0 in the third inning, Hinson came up to the plate with two outs and doubled in Chris Epps for the Legends' first run. A pair of walks loaded the bases and Meredith singled to score two more.
Lexington added two more runs in the fourth. Another two-out double by Hinson scored Roberto Pena and James Howick.
In the seventh, Delino DeShields Jr. singled in Drew Muren and Epps.
Carlos Quevedo (2-1) pitched four innings in relief and earned the victory for Lexington. He gave up one run on three hits and had six strikeouts.
Kannapolis pitchers combined to walk nine batters, including Epps three times.
Intimidators starter Scott Snodgress (1-2) took the loss after giving up five runs on six hits and four walks.
Former Northern Kentucky pitcher Jarrett Casey made an appearance for the Intimidators. He pitched one inning and gave up two runs on two hits and two walks.
