Mark Minicozzi hit a solo home run with two outs in the top of the 11th inning to give the Augusta GreenJackets a 2-1 victory against the Lexington Legends on Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
Legends reliever Murilo Gouvea (1-2) opened the inning by giving up a single to Kelby Tomlinson. He got Ben Thomas to fly out before Tomlinson was caught trying to steal second base.
But Minicozzi, who is batting .196, followed with his second home run of the year.
Augusta got on the board first when Elliott Blair hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot, in the third.
Delino DeShields Jr. tied it up with a solo home run of his own in the eighth.
Legends starter Mike Foltynewicz was solid. He gave up one earned run on five hits and one walk in seven innings. He struck out five batters and lowered his ERA to 2.27.
Dayan Diaz pitched two scoreless innings of relief, including three strikeouts, before Gouvea came on in the 10th inning.
Lexington was held to five hits. Only two of those came off Augusta starter Clayton Blackburn, who had nine strikeouts in 62⁄3 innings.
Tomlinson had three hits for the GreenJackets.
