Asheville rode two early runs to a 4-3 victory against the Lexington Legends on Friday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
Brian Humphries and Trevor Story scored to put Asheville ahead 2-0 in the first. Jose Rivera homered in the second to extend the lead. Two errors in the third by Delino DeShields nearly cost the Legends another run, but he made a catch for the final out.
The Legends didn't score until the fourth inning, when Justin Gominsky doubled in Zachary Johnson and Brandon Meredith to bring Lexington within one.
The Tourists extended their lead with another run by Humphries in the sixth.
DeShields singled for the home team in the seventh and Jordan Scott's double sent him home, but the Legends' rally stopped there.
Tyler Anderson (6-2) got the win for Asheville while Carlos Quevedo (4-3) took the loss.
