LEXINGTON — The Asheville Tourists scored two runs on just three hits and edged the Lexington Legends 2-1 on Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
Both the Tourists' runs came in the top of the fourth. The Legends' Thomas Shirley walked Harold Riggins to begin the inning, and Riggins stole second. A double by Jordan Ribera scored him.
Ribera scored on second baseman Delino Deshields Jr.'s 17th error of the season.
With two outs in the fifth, the Legends' Mike Kvasnicka scored on a wild pitch by Vianney Mayo. Lexington threatened again in the seventh with Matt Duffy on third but couldn't capitalize.
Michael Wolford (2-1) pitched 21⁄3 innings for Asheville to earn the win. Jefri Hernandez got his 12th save.
Shirley allowed two runs in four innings for the loss.
Mitchell Lambson pitched a four scoreless innings in his first appearance for the Legends, allowing one hit and striking out seven. Counting four appearances for Rookie League-level Greeneville, he hasn't given up a walk or a run this season.
