The Hagerstown Suns overcame one-run deficits in the seventh and eighth innings and defeated the Lexington Legends 3-2 on Wednesday evening in Maryland.
No runs were scored until the seventh when Lexington's Brandon Meredith hit a solo home run.
Hagerstown answered in the bottom of the seventh on Bryce Ortega's bunt single.
The Legends took the lead again in the eighth when Mike Kvasnicka drew a walk with the bases loaded.
Never miss a local story.
But the Suns answered quickly. Matt Skole, who leads the South Atlantic League in home runs (19) and RBI (70), hit a home run in the eighth.
After Murilo Gouvea relieved Evan Grills for Lexington, the Suns loaded the bases. Sam Palace hit what looked like a double-play grounder to the shortstop, Chan Moon, who threw to Ruben Sosa at second to force Justin Miller, but Sosa's throw to first was low, allowing the winning run to score.
Hagerstown starter Alex Meyer, a former Kentucky star who is on the USA roster for next week's Futures Game, pitched two scoreless innings before being relieved.
