Lexington rallied for five runs with two outs in the fifth inning to take command as the Legends earned their sixth straight victory, a 9-5 decision over the Augusta GreenJackets on Wednesday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
With the GreenJackets up 3-2, Augusta reliever Christopher Marlowe pitched 12⁄3 innings as his control issues sparked the Legends.
After a Ruben Sosa flyout to start the fifth, Marlowe walked Lexington's Zachary Johnson and later allowed him to reach second on a wild pitch. A Matt Duffy single put runners at first and third. Marlowe got Brandon Meredith to strike out for the second out of the inning, but he then walked Mike Kvasnicka to load the bases.
Then Marlowe walked Nolan Fontana and Jordan Scott to score Johnson and Duffy, respectively, and give the Legends a 4-3 lead.
Marlowe (1-6) was then pulled from the game for Demondre Arnold, who immediately gave up at two-run single to Lexington's Luis Alvarez. Delino DeShields finished the scoring with another single to knock in Scott.
Juri Perez (2-1) pitched five innings, giving up three runs and five hits for the win.
