Tarp duty is part of the job in minor league baseball, and today it’s the Augusta staff’s turn. A shower moved through at about 3:15, but by 3:30 the staff was removing the tarp from the field. The rain dropped the temperature all the way down to 87. “Steamy,” “muggy,” and other favorite terms used by meteorologists to describe heat and humidity will apply.
The Legends arrived in Augusta at about 2 a.m. after the win in Greenville last night, and they’ll take on the Augusta GreenJackets in the first of a four-game series tonight at 7 p.m. at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
