Pauline Fain was named Woman Bowler of the Year at the Lexington Women's Bowling Association's annual meeting and awards luncheon June 2 at the Ramada Inn on North Broadway. Fain rolled a 279 game in the TNT League and finished second in the 600 Club Tournament B Division. She also served as a league secretary.
The high-average award went to Melinda Craig, who has won the award 15 of the past 16 years. She averaged 217 last season. Jane Johnson received the Mabel Perkins Sportsmanship Award. The high-series award went to Teri Tucker for her 743. The high-game award was shared by Melanie Fairchild Johnson and Chrissy Maddox, who each bowled a 289. The award honoring the senior youth girl who posts the highest average went to Tori Doyle (194).
Helen Gilkerson was re-elected president and Joann Campbell second vice president. Barbara Underwood, Joann Herndon, Melinda Craig, Celia Cooper, Louise Black and Tara Short were elected as two-year directors.
Fitch rolls 300 on way to 779

Frank Fitch posted the first award score of the summer season on June 4. He rolled a 779 series that was highlighted by a perfect game. Fitch rolled 222-257-300 for his series. Fitch, who rolled the series left-handed, has rolled perfect games and 800 series with each hand.
