Brandon Novak, a 26-year-old regional pro from Chillicothe, Ohio, rallied to win the 36th Bradley Open last weekend at Collins Bowling Centers-Eastland. Novak defeated Vern Peterson of Winter Haven, Fla., in the finals.
Peterson won the first game of the best-of-three finals 185-183. But Novak prevailed 223-183 and 233-190 to take the title.
Novak earned $10,000 and an entry to the 2016 USBC Masters Tournament. Peterson won $5,000.
Last year's champion, touring pro Tommy Jones, finished 25th. The best finish by a local bowler was Matt Joyce in 29th. Brian Himmler of Cincinnati rolled the event's only 300 game.

■ Conner Welch rolled the Lexington area's 20th perfect game of the season on Jan. 10 at Southland. Welch, a senior in the Southland youth league, followed 300 with a 225 and 213 for a 738 series. It was the second perfect game by a youth bowler this season. Chester Hukle rolled a 300 on Sept. 27 at Southland.
■ The entry deadline for the 75th Greater Lexington USBC Open Tournament and the 70th Greater Lexington USBC Women's Tournament is Feb. 8. The events will be held at Eastland Lanes on Feb. 14-15 and 21-22. The entry fee for both is $22 per bowler per event.
