Miranda Kramer, the Western Kentucky softball team's first National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American, was named Conference USA's female athlete of the year on Wednesday.
Kramer, a senior who transferred from IPFW after her junior season, led the nation with 439 strikeouts, 12.6 strikeouts per seven innings and 2.88 hits allowed per seven innings.
She pitched WKU's first perfect game, and also threw three no-hitters.
Kramer's 13 shutouts were second in Division I while her 1.24 ERA put her sixth in the nation, leading her to a 26-10 record.
Named Conference USA's pitcher and newcomer of the year, Kramer led the Lady Hilltoppers to regular-season and league tournament championships.
