After a slow start to the 2015-16 season, the Transylvania University men’s basketball team is starting to find its way.
Senior forward Parker Stansberry scored 25 points on Wednesday night to boost the Pioneers to their third consecutive victory, 94-85 at Franklin (Ind.) College.
Transylvania improved to 5-9 overall and 4-3 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Four Pioneers joined Stansberry in scoring in double figures —Alex Jones scored 16, Theobold Cooper 15, Tristan Burgess 12 and Lowell Gordon 11 — as Transylvania hit the 90-point mark for the fourth time this season but the first time as a winner.
Transylvania made 50 percent of its shots from the field (33 of 66) including 10-for-24 from three-point range and committed only four turnovers. Transy led the entire game after the score was tied at 2. Only the Pioneers’ 18-for-32 free-throw shooting allowed the Grizzlies (1-13, 1-6 HCAC) to keep pace.
Transylvania returns to the court Saturday at Manchester University. Tip-off is 3 p.m.
