Win puts men's soccer team in C-USA Tournament The Kentucky men's soccer team beat SMU 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the UK Soccer Complex and clinched a berth in the Conference USA Tournament.

Senior forward Tim Crone scored the game's only goal in the 65th minute. The Wildcats (12-5-0, 5-3-0) needed a win or a tie to remain in fourth place in the conference, which will hold a four-team tournament Nov. 13-15 at the site of the regular-season champion. The win improved Kentucky's conference winning streak to five games after starting the year 0-3-0 in league play.

As the four seed in the tournament, UK will face off with the regular-season champion. UAB (5-1-1), Tulsa (5-1-1) and Marshall (5-2-0) are still battling it out for the title. UAB faces Marshall on the road Saturday and Tulsa travels to UCF (2-4-1) Saturday night.

"We haven't won anything yet so we're certainly not happy, but it gives us a chance to compete for a championship, and we're going to do our best to go win that," UK Coach Ian Collins said. "It's not about making it. It's about winning it."

Westbrook expects to play vs. Cowboys

Philadelphia running back Brian Westbrook is set to return from his latest injury when the Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Westbrook missed the Eagles' rout of the Giants last week with a concussion sustained a week earlier. Coach Andy Reid said Westbrook, who practiced Wednesday, should be "good to go" against Dallas and will not need to undergo further testing. Westbrook said the headache he had last week is gone and he feels no ill effects from the concussion.

■ The Colts have lost starting linebacker Tyjuan Hagler for the rest of the season with a ruptured biceps. Coach Jim Caldwell said Hagler was placed on injured reserve Wednesday. Second-year linebacker Philip Wheeler and undrafted rookie Ramon Humber are expected to replace Hagler.

■ Cleveland Browns running back Jamal Lewis hasn't changed his mind about retiring after this season. Lewis said Wednesday he still intends to call it quits at the end of this season, his 10th in the NFL. He announced his decision following Sunday's loss, leading some to wonder if the 30-year-old was speaking from frustration.

■ Packers Coach Mike McCarthy hinted strongly that veteran offensive tackles Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher will start Sunday's game at Tampa Bay. Clifton hasn't played a full game since the opener because of a nagging right ankle injury, and Tauscher has spent most of the year rehabbing from a torn left anterior cruciate ligament.

BASEBALL

Dodgers Padilla accidentally shot in leg Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla is recovering from a bullet wound in his leg after a target shooting instructor accidentally shot him in Managua, Nicaragua. Dr. Eduardo Reguera said Padilla didn't need surgery. Police spokesman Vilma Reyes said Wednesday that Padilla's pistol apparently jammed during a target shooting session. Padilla handed the pistol to a shooting instructor, who didn't realize there was a bullet in the chamber and shot himself in his hand, Padilla's legal adviser Roberto Calderon told The Associated Press. The bullet grazed Padilla's leg.

■ Cubs left-hander Ted Lilly had surgery on his left shoulder, and no timetable has been set for his return. The Cubs said the procedure performed Tuesday revealed no major damage to Lilly's shoulder.

■ Tigers All-Star third baseman Brandon Inge has undergone surgery on both knees. The team said the procedure addressed chronic patellar tendinitis that plagued Inge last season. Inge is expected to be ready for the start of spring training in February.

Meyer says refs missed late hit

Florida Coach Urban Meyer believes Southeastern Conference officials missed a late hit on Tim Tebow in Saturday's game against Georgia. Meyer said Wednesday the crew calling the game should have flagged Bulldogs linebacker Nick Williams for knocking his quarterback to the ground well after he had gotten rid of the football. Meyer sent video of the play to Rogers Redding, the league's coordinator of officials but declined to reveal what the SEC told him, saying he didn't "want to step out of line."
