Recap: Louisville vs. Arkansas State

Darius Ashley ran for two touchdowns and the Louisville Cardinals' defense did the rest in a 21-13 win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a non-conference game at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

Bilal Powell ran for 93 yards on 17 carries for Louisville (3-5). Will Stein was 20-of-39 through the air for 232 yards.

Corey Leonard was 23-of-41 through the air for the Red Wolves (2-5) for 303 yards and a touchdown, but was intercepted twice and sacked three times on the day.

The Cardinals got on the board first when Ashley ran 26 yards for a touchdown with just under six minutes left in the first quarter.

Josh Arauco opened the scoring for the Red Wolves with a 24-yard field goal early in the second quarter.

Brandon Heath extended the Louisville lead to 14-3 when he picked off a Leonard pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown with six minutes remaining in the first half.

Ashley scored his second touchdown of the game from a yard out midway through the third period to extend Louisville's lead to 21-3.

Leonard hit Brandon Thompkins with a 21-yard touchdown pass late in the quarter to cut Louisville's lead to 21-10.

Arauco added a 21-yard field goal midway through the fourth period.

Arkansas State, which generated just 45 yards rushing, has now lost five of its last six outings.
