A person going to church Sunday spotted the body of a woman in a drainage ditch, according to Kentucky State Police.
Police identified the woman as Stacy Hobbs, 33, of Barbourville.
There was widespread flooding in the county Saturday, but authorities do not believe Hobbs’ death was related to the flooding, according to a news release.
Police said it was not yet clear Sunday whether foul play was involved.
A person arriving at Swan Pond Baptist Church on KY 11 about 11 a.m. saw Hobbs’ body next to the Cumberland River.
Her body was in a drainage ditch leading to the river, according to police.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine what caused Hobbs’ death.
