Dr Pepper Brings Back Fan-Favorite Offering by Popular Demand - But There's a Catch
Dr Pepper is bringing back a fan-favorite offering, by popular demand, but only at Sheetz.
On June 3, Sheetz confirmed via social media the return of Dr Pepper BBQ Sauce just in time for the summer months.
"The comeback you've been craving," the chain teased on Instagram. Convenience Store News also reported the news on June 8.
Sheetz customers can enjoy Fryz and Shnuggets with a side of Dr Pepper BBQ Sauce. Or they can top their brisket, hot dogs, and more from the store's Made-to-Order Menu with the sweet and savory condiment.
Per Convenience Store News, the sauce boasts a "smoky-sweet flavor with a rich caramel depth." Additionally, its "signature cherry-spice notes blend perfectly with tangy barbecue spices, creating a sauce that's both savory, sweet, and slightly spicy."
When Sheetz stopped offering Dr Pepper BBQ Sauce in 2024, one passionate fan actually started a Change.org petition to bring it back.
"Dr. Pepper BBQ Sauce was a key ingredient in this diverse menu. When it was available, customers had more options to personalize their meals, making each order unique and delightful," the customer wrote. "By discontinuing this sauce, not only has Sheetz removed a popular product, but it has also narrowed the choices for loyal customers like me who depended on this sauce for that extra zing in our meals."
They added, "We are confident that the return of the sauce will not only please us but also attract others who have yet to experience the unmatched combination of flavors that the Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce offers... bring back the Dr. Pepper BBQ Sauce at Sheetz!"

In the comments of Sheetz's Facebook post announcing the return of Dr Pepper BBQ Sauce, fans rejoiced over the news.
"Sheetz, I am beyond emotions at this point. Change is a real thing 🥹," one fan declared. "After sending 90+ physcial letters this year, it's incredible to witness the power of community passion and dedication. Thank you, Sheetz, for listening and bringing this back!"
As of writing, it's unclear how long the Dr Pepper BBQ Sauce will stick around at Sheetz. Folks have already reported seeing it in the wild, though, so fans better snag it while it lasts!
