SPECIAL EVENTS AND ATTRACTIONS
Fridays and Saturdays: Craft beer tent on the North Terrace patio. Special selection of beers including Blue Stallion, Country Boy Fall Ale, produced in conjunction with Keeneland; Fat Tire, Kentucky Ale, Land Shark, Shock Top, Sierra Nevada and Woodchuck Hard Cider.
Fridays and Saturdays: Tailgate lot, The Hill, next to the Keene Barn & Entertainment Center, features food trucks, a jumbo television screen, wagering terminals and wireless wagering, race-day programs, a Keeneland Gift Shop kiosk and free shuttles to the track. On Saturdays, The Hill will showcase Central Kentucky's favorite bluegrass bands from noon to 4 p.m.; "betologists" available to answer fans' questions.
Oct. 8: On Make-A-Wish Day, local Thoroughbred farms team up with Keeneland to grant wishes for nine children on a race day of their dreams. The children and their families will be treated to a VIP experience, complete with presenting a trophy after each race.
Oct. 9: College Scholarship Day. Admission is free with a college ID. Full-time students may register in the North Terrace to win one of 10 $1,000 scholarships, plus prizes from local vendors awarded after each of the day's races. The first 2,000 students to register will receive a Keeneland College Scholarship Day T-shirt, courtesy of Kennedy's Wildcat Den, or a Vineyard Vines hat.
Oct. 9: Patrons can enter the Buffalo Trace Giveaway contest for a chance to win a VIP Buffalo Trace Distillery Experience. Register at a table located trackside near Elevator C beginning at 11 a.m., when gates open. The first 1,500 registrants will receive a free Buffalo Trace drawstring bag.
Oct. 9, 10: Keeneland gift shop presents Coton Colors trunk show from 11 a.m. to the end of the race day.
Oct. 11: Keeneland's Kids Club Family Day gives all Kids Club members and their families free general admission with their Kids Club badge at any pass gate. Children's activities include face painting, crafts and more in the North Terrace, noon-4 p.m.
Oct. 11: Chase Bank Customer Day gives free admission at the South and East Gates to patrons with a JPMorgan or Chase-logoed debit or credit card.
Oct. 14: Keeneland encourages patrons to don red attire for Wear Red Day to help raise awareness about heart disease in women. The American Heart Association will give heart pins to the first 3,000 fans.
Oct. 15: Keeneland/UK Double. Keeneland racing during the day and the first prime-time Thursday night football game for the University of Kentucky. UK's game against Auburn kicks off at 7 p.m.
Oct. 16: See Blue Day at the Races.
Oct. 17: UK alumni, faculty and students receive free general admission and access to reserved grandstand seating with a valid UK ID.
Oct. 16, 17: Keeneland gift shop presents State Traditions, Southern Proper and Clayton & Crume trunk shows from 11 a.m. to the end of the race day.
Oct. 17: Keeneland gift shop presents Ginny McCormack, author of Sundays in the South and Seasons in the South cookbooks, trunk show from 11 a.m. to the end of the race day.
Oct. 18: Heroes Day recognizes all active and inactive members of the military, first responders — law enforcement, firefighters and EMTs — and their families. They receive free general admission with a professional ID. A Family Zone in the North Terrace, noon-4 p.m., will feature free food, live music and children's activities.
Oct. 23, 24: Keeneland gift shop presents Smathers & Branson, Ledbury and Bird Dog Bay trunk shows from 11 a.m. to the end of the race day.
Oct. 24: Special Halloween edition of Sunrise Trackside. Buckles, Keeneland's Kids Club mascot, will award prize packages to kids wearing the best Halloween costumes. The Headless Horseman will make an appearance in the Paddock at 9 a.m. and on the main track during races.
