Ready to put a little more dead in your life?
After the jack-o'-lanterns are put away it's time for the Festival del Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead Festival 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The fun starts at the Living Arts & Science Center at 362 North Martin Luther King Boulevard. The day will include traditional music, dance, and food of this holiday celebrated in Mexico and parts of Central and South America.
At dusk, musicians and dancers will lead a candlelight parade to the Old Episcopal Burying Ground at 251 East Third Street. For more information go to Lasclex.org.
Explorium supplying slime with price of admission
Explorium of Lexington at 440 West Short Street will be transformed into the BooSeum from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Kids can enjoy activities like making slime and fake blood and a costume contest with lots of prizes. Included with museum admission, $8, free for children younger than 12 months. Kentucky Crafted showcase part of Breeders' Cup week
Kentucky Crafted, the annual showcase of arts and crafts, is back for a special show at the Breeders' Cup Festival. The curated collection will be at The Livery at 238 East Main Street. Items will include jewelry by Rachel Savané, photography by Don Ament, ceramics by Seth Green and more. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Saturday. Dress to thrill at Beaux Arts Foundation Fall Ball
Costumes are encouraged at The Beaux Arts Foundation Fall Ball, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday at the Manchester Music Hall, 899 Manchester Street. The night's lineup will include SEENOEVIL, Moceans, DJ Dahknee, Syd the Dog and Fortheye. Tickets are $20 advance, $25 at the door. Beaux-arts-ball.org.
