If ever there was a Disney movie destined for Disney on Ice treament, it was “Frozen.”
The 2013 instant classic was set in an icy world with characters such as Olaf the talking snowman and songs such as “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and the iconic “Let it Go,” with the refrain, “The cold never bothered me anyway.”
No, and it makes an ice show pretty easy to imagine, hence “Disney on Ice presents Frozen” is headed to Rupp Arena next ... spring. The touring show will set down in the Home of the Wildcats for seven performances April 11 to 14.
Promoters promise the story of royal sisters Anna and Elsa, with supporting players like Kristoff, the reindeer Sven and, of course, Olaf. Other Disney favorites including Mickey and Minnie Mouse as well as characters from “Toy Story,” “The Little Mermaid” and more will find their ways into the show.
This will be the first time the “Frozen” ice show has visited Rupp. “Dream Big,” which included characters from “Frozen” but was not the story of the movie, came to Lexington last year.
Tickets start at $20 and go on sale Oct. 30 at the Lexington Center Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster locations, by calling 859-233-3535 or visiting rupparena.com.
