After last year’s inaugural edition of the Lexington Music Awards, one of founder David McLean’s greatest desires was to expand the pool of people who made nominations.

So, while McLean says he already has three times as many nominations as he had last time around, the nomination deadline has been extended eight days, to 11:59 p.m. Saturday.

Click here to make nominations in categories from best pop, rock, hip-hop and other music genres; best artists such as vocalists and instrumentalists and best music support entities such as music shops and recording studios.

After the nominations are announced, the nominees will vote for the eventual winners. So the nominations are the time to try to make sure your favorites get in the mix.

Lifetime achievement award winners will be announced toward the end of December. The 2nd Annual Lexington Music Awards ceremony will be Jan. 31 at the Lyric Theatre and Cultural Arts Center. The emcees will be WLEX-TV chief meteorologist Bill Meck and reporter-anchor Angie Beavin.
