James Taylor will make his first Lexington appearance in recent memory on April 24 at Rupp Arena.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 29 for the concert being billed as James Taylor and His All-Star Band.
Taylor’s recording career is of course legendary with hits ranging back to Fire and Rain and Carolina on My Mind in the 1970s to Shower the People, Up on the Roof and many more. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and multi-Grammy Award winner is up for another prize next month with his latest album, Before This World, up for best pop vocal album.
Taylor, 67, has been touring recently with a band billed as His All-Star Band including veterans such as drummer Steve Gadd, guitarist Michael Landau and his longtime backing vocalists David Lasley Arnold McCuller and Kate Markowitz.
Rupp Arena spokewoman Sheila Kenny confirms this will be Taylor’s debut as a headliner at Rupp Arena, and likely his first visit to the venue.
