Lexington quartet Ancient Warfare has a full weekend ahead before hitting the road to the South by Southwest music festival — almost feels weird to spell it out.

The shows at 10 p.m. Saturday at Best Friend Bar and 7 p.m. Sunday at the Green Lantern Bar are fundraisers for the journey which will take the band on a swing through the South including Knoxville, Athens, Atlanta, New Orleans and Nashville, plus a March 12 date at the Savannah Stopover Festival preceding its official SXSW showcase March 18.

Ancient Warfare is touring in support of The Pale Horse, which was released last summer. Click here to read our interview with singer and guitarist Echo Wilcox from August.

Saturday, Warren Byrom and Louisville’s Ben Jones will open, and Sunday Ancient Warfare is joined by the Yamaguchi Ramen Noodle Food Truck.
