The 2016 Lexington comedy calendar just keeps getting better. Amy Schumer is heading to Rupp Arena on April 30 for a Saturday-night stop on her 19-date spring tour.
Her announcement comes on the heels of Nick Offerman's announcement of an April 1 date at the Singletary Center for the the Arts, and recent stands in town by Tracy Morgan, Larry the Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy and Brian Regan. Last fall, another white-hot comedian, Kevin Hart, made a Rupp Arena stand. The show will fall within a week of marquee Rupp Arena concerts by James Taylor (April 24) and Pearl Jam (April 26).
Schumer is coming to Lexington after a huge 2015 that included the biggest season yet for her Comedy Central series, Inside Amy Schumer, and a huge critical and box office success for Trainwreck, which she wrote and starred in. In the midst of it all, she became close friends with Kentuckian Jennifer Lawrence. The two have written a movie together.
