The bill-toppers represent a significant upgrade for the fest that featured Moon Taxi as its marquee artist for its first two editions. Last year, the event -- presented by LexEffect Events, which now also manages Manchester Music Hall -- made the move from Equus Run Vineyard in rural Midway to the Lexington public park, drawing 4,000 people according to a festival news release.
Since its inception, MoonTower has combined national and regional artists with local acts, and this year’s homegrown lineup includes Blind Corn Liquor Pickers, which has a festival of its own coming up with Moonshiner’s Ball in May; Small Batch and Johnny Conqueroo, who is playing the Downtown Arts Center’s Sunday Sessions concert April 10.
Rounding out the two-stage, 14-artist lineup, are Judah & The Lion, The Floozies, The Weeks, Mandolin Orange, Aubrie Sellers, Bassh, and Chrome Pony. Louisville’s DJ Tank, veteran of several Red, White & Boom festivals and other events, will be spinning between sets. The one-day fest is 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Tickets are $49 in advance, $59 the day of the show. Ages 12 and younger do not need a ticket to attend.
