Here's where to find Oscar-nominated films

If you haven't seen the movies that were nominated for Oscars this week and you still want to, you have a marathon month ahead of you before winners are announced March 7.

Here's a guide to the major-category nominees that you can see in theaters or on DVD this weekend. Major nominations also are listed. Note that studios sometimes will re-release nominated films, which often will show up at discount theaters.

In theaters

These films are in Lexington theaters this weekend. Check the movie guides on Pages 15-17 for show times and theaters.

Avatar (picture, director James Cameron).

Crazy Heart (actor Jeff Bridges, supporting actress Maggie Gyllenhaal).

The Blind Side (picture, actress Sandra Bullock).

No man's land

These films are no longer in Lexington theaters and aren't scheduled to arrive on DVD until after the Oscars. If you haven't seen them, you might be out of luck unless you make a road trip. To find show times for theaters outside Central Kentucky, go to

The Last Station (actress Helen Mirren, supporting actor Christopher Plummer). Has not opened in the region.

The Messenger (supporting actor Woody Harrelson, original screenplay). Not playing anywhere in the region.

Nine (supporting actress Penélope Cruz). Not playing anywhere in the region.

The Princess and the Frog (animated feature). Playing in Louisville (Stonybrook Cinemas). On DVD March 16.

The Secret of Kells (animated feature). Never opened in Central Kentucky.
