Family reviews: 'Kick-Ass'

A parents' guide to select new movies:

'Kick-Ass'

Rating: R for strong, brutal violence throughout, pervasive language, sexual content, nudity and some drug use — some involving children.

What it's about: A bored teen decides to dress up like a super hero and intervene where he sees injustice.

The Kid Attractor Factor: Mocking and embracing comic-book hero clichés

Good lessons/bad lessons: Violence has its consequences.

Violence: Surprisingly bloody, given the tone it aims for.

Language: Just filthy

Sex: Sexual content, and a young girl is objectified in an inappropriate way.

Drugs: Yes

Parents' advisory: Kids are going to want to see it, but it's not remotely appropriate for 13-and-youngers.
