Where to go to see the Oscar nominees

If you haven't seen the movies that were nominated for Oscars this week and you want to, you have a marathon month ahead of you before winners are announced Feb. 26.

Here's a guide to the major-category nominees that you can see in theaters or on DVD this weekend. Major nominations also are listed. Note that studios sometimes will re-release nominated films, which often will show up at discount theaters.

IN THEATERS

These films are in Lexington theaters this weekend. Check the movie guides on Pages 17 and 18 for show times and theaters.

ROAD TRIP

These films have yet to arrive in Lexington theaters and aren't scheduled to be on DVD until after the Oscars. But they are playing in the region.

Albert Nobbs (actress, Glenn Close; supporting actress, Janet McTeer). Opens Jan. 27 in Louisville (Baxter Avenue 8), Newport (AMC Newport on the Levee 20) and Cincinnati (Mariemont Theatre). Likely to open in Lexington soon.

The Muppets (original song). Playing in Florence (Danbarry Cinemas Turfway) and Cincinnati (Danbarry Dollar Saver-Eastgate and Cincinnati Mills).

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (actor, Gary Oldman; adapted screenplay). Left Lexington theaters Jan. 26. Playing in Cincinnati (Esquire Theatre). Available on DVD on March 20.

COMING SOON?

These movies are scheduled to open in wider release soon, but it's not known whether they will arrive in Lexington before the Oscars. They also are not playing anywhere in the region currently.

Pina (documentary feature). Scheduled to open in some markets, but maybe not Lexington, on Feb. 10.

A Separation (original screenplay). Scheduled to open in some markets, but maybe not Lexington, on Feb. 17.

Undefeated (documentary feature). Scheduled to open in some markets, but maybe not Lexington, on Feb. 10.

NO MAN'S LAND

This film is no longer in Lexington or regional theaters and isn't scheduled to arrive on DVD until after the Oscars. If you haven't seen it, you might be out of luck.
