Richmond band is finalist in CMT talent search

The Richmond country band Chicken Grease is a finalist in CMT's national online talent search Music City Madness.

The band is competing against 63 other unsigned artists to win an all-expense paid trip to Nashville to record an episode of Unplugged at Studio 330, perform a showcase for A&R executives from Warner Bros. Records and a mentoring session from country star Randy Travis.

First-round voting is open through Nov. 3. On Nov. 4, the brackets will narrow to 32 contenders. New brackets will be posted weekly, until the final round is announced Dec. 2.

Formed in 2006, Chicken Grease consists of two fathers, Dale Pyatt and Steve Thomas, both of whom have extensive experience in the recording industry; and their three sons, Justin Pyatt, Nathan Thomas and Aaron Thomas. To learn more about the band, visit www.myspace.com/chickengrease06.
