Momentum continues to build for Lexington Eats Week, the grassroots effort by local restaurants to fill the gap left when Lexington Restaurant Week was canceled for 2017. The dining event will be July 20-29 at most restaurants, with some planning to offer deals from July 21-31.
More than two dozen restaurants have signed up so far, with more coming, including Clawdaddy’s, The Ketch Seafood Grill, Malone’s, Drake’s, Harry’s, OBC Kitchen, Aqua Sushi Bar, Dudley’s on Short, Le Deauville, Portofino, Grillfish, Distilled at Gratz Park, Coles735 Main, Lucie’s Red Light Kitchen & Lounge, Willie’s Locally Known, Lexington Pasta Garage, Palmer’s Fresh Grill, Minglewood, Honeywood from Ouita Michel, Holly Hill Inn, Saul Good, Bella Notte, Columbia’s Steak House, Enoteca, Grey Goose in Lexington and in Midway, Proud Mary BBQ, Azur, Brasabana, Stella’s Kentucky Deli, Mellow Mushroom on South Upper and at Lexington Green, Crust, Wines on Vine, Merrick Inn, Josie’s and Al’s Bar, featuring The Epic Cure.
Restaurants will offer a three-course menu for $25 or $26, with $1 going to a non-profit of the restaurant’s choice. Tax and tip will be extra. Several restaurants are planning to donate to a scholarship fund in memory of the late chef Lucie Slone Meyers.
At some restaurants, the menu will be enough for two people; at more upscale restaurants, the menu will be for one. Reservations are recommended. Some menus also are posted online at dudleysonshort.com/eats-week/

Here are some of the specials that restaurants have planned:
Al’s Bar, with food from The Epic Cure: to share, maple-glaze frog legs for shared appetizer; two Swayze burgers with Swiss and American cheese, fried bologna, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and Grippos. For shared dessert, cookie dough dip, cookie dough, marshmallow fluff and sour cream served with cinnamon sugar tortilla chips.
Bella Notte: for one, basilicata soup, beef broth with broccoli rabe, carrots, farro, lentils and pork sausage; pork vesuviano, coffee & almond rubbed pork tenderloin with apricots, arugula, gorgonzola and balsamic honey agro dolce; and a sorbet sampler.
Columbia’s: to share, two Nighthawk Specials with jumbo baked potato or steak fries and Diego salads.
Crust: to share, garlic knotts; your choice of Dante, classic, or ’murica pizza; with budino and Nutella pizza for dessert.
Distilled at Gratz Park Inn: for one, blueberry salad or tomato gazpacho; choice of seared scallops with English peas, cippolini, potato puree, country ham broth and crispy ham, or Berkshire pork tenderloin with pimento cheese grits, smoked corn-manchego salad and bacon jam. For dessert: chocolate banana fritter and coconut-almond ice cream.
Drake’s: for two, shared appetizer; two entrees, choice of five-cheese caprese flatbread, all-American burger, chicken asada tacos or BLT minis; two soft drinks.
Dudley’s on Short: for one, summer corn and basil bisque with cornbread crouton and pickled corn and tomato relish, or watermelon and cucumber salad with pine nuts, feta, currants and chipotle vinaigrette; whole roasted strip loin or slow-cooked salmon; and house-made cake.
Grey Goose: (both locations) to share, salad, choice of veggie, pepperoni or Italian pizza, and either peanut butter or pecan pie.
Grillfish: for one, salad; grilled white wreckfish or grilled shrimp scampi; mango key lime pie or brownie sundae.
Harry’s: for two, shared appetizer; two entrees, choice of salad, mini bomb burgers, mini maple chicken cordon bluegrass sandwiches, or mini fried fish sandwiches; two soft drinks.
Holly Hill Inn: for one, a starter of summer salad; Stone Cross Farm pork chop grilled and glazed with bourbon and butter. For dessert, either blackberry and apple crisp or local berries with Chantilly cream.
Honeywood: for one, a starter of heirloom tomato, local melon, cucumber, roasted sunflower seeds, local lettuce, feta, Castelvetrano olive and Green Goddess dressing; marinated Stone Cross Farm pork chop, roasted pork belly, zucchini-squash-cherry tomato saute, sweet corn and Weisenberger Mill cheese grits, marinated cucumbers and pork jus. For dessert, bourbon chocolate pecan pie with Sorella Gelateria bourbon-vanilla gelato.
J. Render’s: to share, appetizer of either smoked Buffalo chicken dip or smoked cheddar bacon fries to share; choice of any sandwich or specialty item for each person, with onion rings, loaded fried or side salad available for an extra charge; and a dessert to share, either Nancy’s banana pudding, Maker’s Mark bourbon and chocolate bread pudding, Ghirardelli chocolate brownie a la mode or Maker’s Mark Bourbon chocolate cake.
Josie’s (in Lexington and in Georgetown): for two, grouper fingers, hummus or fried green tomatoes; choice of salad, pasta, omelet, tilapia, shrimp basket or cod basket; bread pudding or daily desserts.
The Ketch Seafood Grill: for two, a shared appetizer; choice of cedar plank salmon, wood-grilled shrimp kabob or Southland hot chicken and waffle. For dessert, choice of bourbon bread pudding, carrot cake or caramel praline cream ice cream each.
Lexington Pasta Garage: to share, an appetizer of caprese-stuffed gnocchi with vodka sauce, basil pesto and 18 year old balsamic, and either rigatoni with a creamy bolognese or four- cheese baked ravioli. Two soft drinks included.
Malone’s: for one, choice of appetizers or salads; Asian glazed salmon, 12-ounce prime sirloin or honey jalapeno BBQ grilled chicken; either turtle cheesecake or strawberries & amaretto cream for dessert.
Mellow Mushroom: (both locations) to share, a bruschetta appetizer, salad, and three pizza options: Maui Wowie, pesto sauce base with ham, pineapple, jerk chicken, banana peppers, bacon and mozzarella cheese; Kosmic Karma, red sauce base with feta & mozzarella cheese, spinach, sundried and Roma tomatoes with a pesto swirl; or House, red sauce base with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, bacon, mushrooms, black olives, roma tomatoes, green peppers and onions topped with extra mozzarella.
Merrick Inn: appetizer to share; choice of walleye pike, grilled smoked pork chop, salmon or Mediterranean chicken for two; to share, either bread pudding, strawberry shortcake or mountain pie.
Minglewood: for one, either I’m High on Cheese: Smoked cheddar and Parmesan pimento cheese with pickled jalepeno and grilled bread; When I dip, you dip, we dip: Summer sour cream and vegetable dip served with fresh veggies and house fried pita chips; or warm Brussels sprout salad tossed with warm bacon vinaigrette, toasted pumpkin seeds, cranberries and topped with bleu cheese crumbles. For the second course, choose from sweet chili pork tacos; Caribbean shrimp cakes; or the Noli burger topped with melted brie, bacon and bourbon and orange marmalade. For dessert, choose either the Kentucky breakfast, made with Rumchata and Knob Creek smoked maple on ice, or a peach bellini: fresh peach sorbet in a champagne float.
OBC Kitchen: for one, choice of appetizer; Jamaican jerk shrimp tacos, Wagyu steak burger or griddle-seared chicken cutlets; tres leches or berries & creme Anglaise for dessert.
Palmer’s Fresh Grill: for one, truffled sidewinder fries with smoked ketchup and béarnaise or rings of fire with buttermilk cream; choice of champagne chicken; shrimp and grits; pretzel-crusted trout; or Norwegian salmon; and choice of bourbon and salted caramel bread pudding or Ghirardelli chocolate brownie cake for one.
Portofino: for one, choice of salads; choice of veal Marsala meatballs or oven-roasted salmon; tiramisu or cannoli for dessert.
Red Light Kitchen and Lounge: for one, Lucie’s French onion soup en croute or salad; chicken a la Lucie, trout meuniere amandine or pork tenderloin; for dessert, vanilla crème brulee or French pastry a la mode.
Saul Good: (all locations) to share, half wedge or half strawberry salad; and flatbread pizza; and either North Lime Donut pudding or Crank & Boom ice cream.
Stella’s Kentucky Deli: to share, their Cubanoburger made with local beef, smoked Kentucky ham and pulled pork or the veggie Cubanoburger with a house-made black bean patty, pepper jack cheese and cilantro lime slaw. Dessert is key lime pie, peaches and cream pie or blackberry cream pie.
Willie’s Locally Known: to share, smoked deviled eggs, chips and queso or six wings; meat and two sides, Willie’s street tacos or a wrap or sandwich; and a dessert to share.
Wines on Vine: for one, either salad or heirloom tomato basil bisque; 4-ounce filet and a lobster tail, or pan-seared salmon in a lemon dill cream over Lexington Pasta fettuccine with asparagus. For dessert, Maker’s Mark bread pudding.
