A new Mexican restaurant is opening at 818 Euclid Avenue in the former Rincon Mexicano spot above Charlie Brown’s.

Buenos Nachos Mexican Kitchen plans to open on Aug. 21, with authentic Mexican food as well as favorites such as burritos, enchiladas and such that Rincon regulars might remember.

Buenos Nachos co-owner Oscar Hernandez worked for almost 11 years at the Rincon before returning to Mexico. When he moved back to Lexington in March, he was surprised to see both Rincon locations had closed. When the opportunity came to lease the Chevy Chase spot, he and some friends decided to go for it.

“My sister, Claudia (Vega), who has been a chef in Mexico, will be coming here to be the chef,” he said. “She is going to bring a lot of new ideas, new dishes, and new presentations. We want to keep what people know and like but want to add new dishes, too, including shrimp, scallops and salmon.”

She plans to make all the dressings and salsas from scratch, he said, and will incorporate some unusual spices, such as ground black sesame seed.

The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday through Wednesday, and until 11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Call 859-523-6814 for more information.

The new place is one of several changes at the Chevy Chase end of Euclid:

▪  Honnah-Lee Bubble Tea will be opening a second location in September at 812 Euclid Avenue, the former location of MonTea. The Euclid store will start with the same hours, noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, but may add Sunday hours.

Co-owner Debra Shambro said they plan to serve the same items as at their Harrodsburg Road location, including more than 30 flavors of bubble tea, gourmet pops, and Pocky, a Japanese cookie.

They also will sell gourmet macarons from La Petite Delicat, which moved from a spot around the corner on South Ashland earlier this year when Kroger made plans to tear down the building for a parking lot.

▪  La Petite Delicat owner Sylviana Herrin has reopened her store at 722 National Avenue, along with Nate’s Coffee. Besides an espresso bar, the new cafe also serves fresh pastries and more flavors of macarons, along with macaron-ice cream sandwiches.

Herrin also has continued macaron-making classes and now has a space for hosting events such as bridal showers and birthday parties. Call 859-266-0041 for more information.

▪  Bear and The Butcher, 815 Euclid, is opening soon across the street. Call 859-469-9188 for more information.
