Do you like great barbecue and love the Cats? Of course you do.

Blue Door Smokehouse, 226 Walton Avenue, needs your help.

ESPN’s “College GameDay” will be coming to the barbecue place on Friday to film background footage to show during Saturday’s broadcast of the basketball game between the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Florida Gators.

The ESPN crew will be there about 11:30 a.m., and if that isn’t enticement enough, Blue Door said they will have burnt ends.

Come by the smokehouse and wear your blue, and you could wind up on the broadcast, said Blue Door co-owner Jeff Newman.

Saturday’s game is at 8:15 p.m. at Rupp Arena.

How exactly did ESPN hear about one of Lexington’s premiere purveyors of smoked meat and sauce? Newman said he isn’t sure but the most likely answer is word of mouth.

“We also do a lot of catering for the basketball team, so maybe they talked to them,” Newman said.
