Sutton’s, an Italian restaurant in Lexington, has become the first restaurant in the state with a package license.
That means Sutton’s can deliver booze to your house along with dinner. Really.
Like some lasagna with a bottle of house red? Their entire wine list is available.
They also will deliver a bottle of Tito’s Vodka or Benchmark Bourbon. Six packs of Country Boy’s Cougar Bait are on there, too.
“The list is growing as get more requests,” said Sutton’s owner Gordon Lewis.
The restaurant got the license about a month ago and has since delivered package items more than two dozen times.
“I think the wine is the most popular and the beer is the least,” Lewis said. “We’ve sold seven or eight bottles of vodka and at least 15 bottles of wine.”
For delivery, you have to order a minimum of $15 of food and drinks, with $5 fee.
A few weeks ago Sutton’s, which is located at 110 North Locust Hill Drive, began advertising that it could deliver cocktails along with dinner but that isn’t exactly the case.
“Not cocktails, but packaged alcohol. Anything sealed,” he said.
However, they can bring you the mixers and all the fixings to go with it. And soon they will be adding the house-made sweet and sour mix used in their margaritas.
“I think there’s going to be lot of restaurants following suit,” Lewis said. “This is the future.”
