LexGo Eat: Cajun food & UK cookies get you ready for UK football

Bourbon 'n' Toulouse, 829 Euclid Avenue, and Chevy Chase Inn, 833 Euclid Avenue, are gearing up for Saturday's UK home opener against the Ragin' Cajuns of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The restaurant is offering 10 percent off all game-day catering pickup orders placed before 5:30 p.m on Saturday. Call (859) 335-0300. Chevy Chase Inn has a weekly $1.50 Bloody Mary Happy Hour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and starting at 4 p.m., Bourbon 'n' Toulouse will grill Farmer Joe's Kentucky Proud Brats as well as their Big Bleu Burger, which has bleu cheese crumbles, onions, garlic and a special herbs and spices blend mixed into Critchfield's ground beef. Both will be $6 and come with a bag of chips.

Broomwagon Coffee + Bikes (named for the vehicle that sweeps the course clear after a cycling road race) is now open at 800 North Limestone. Besides bikes and repairs, Broomwagon offers coffee, tea, espresso-based drinks, fruit smoothies, and milkshakes, and sandwiches and wraps, like the Broomwagon grilled cheese with mozzarella, feta, lemon zest, and basil on local sourdough. Pending liquor license approval, Broomwagon will also offer a selection of local craft beers. Open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Kentucky Owl, a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey also known as the Wise Man's Bourbon, on Tuesday released its second version exclusively in Kentucky. Only 1,380 bottles are in this release, which is expected to sell out quickly. The price is about $170. The Dedman family, who own and operate the James Beard award-winning Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg, revived the brand last year. The first release of Kentucky Owl was among the Garden & Gun Made in the South winners for 2014.

Brasabana, 841 Lane Allen Road, will have a Tapas Party at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, with music by Renato y Santiago. For reservations, call (859) 303-5573. Patio seating now available. Menu will include a ceviche trio of tilapia poblano, cerrano ham Manzanilla, and lobster aji amarillo; slow roasted pork with anticucho sauce and fig cabrales mousse; taquitos de barbacoa with spicy sofrito, mango and cilantro lime crema; and bacalao yuca napoleon with avocado and queso fresco espuma.

■ Friday is Downtown Frankfort's last summer concert on the lawn of the Old State Capitol. Capital Cellars, 227 West Broadway in Frankfort, will offer grilled tenderloin, grilled chicken, Wisconsin-style brats, hot dogs and burgers, plus strawberry bourbon sangria. Jessamine Growers Farmers' Market, 8 a.m. to noon Saturday behind City Hall at the corner of Main and Rice Streets in Wilmore, will have locally grown spaghetti squash, butternut squash, peppers, green beans, kale and chard, potatoes, apples, honey, freshly ground cornmeal, fresh herbs, eggs, cut flowers and perennials.

Chevy Chase Farmers' Market, open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Euclid and High, will have beef, pork, sausages, lamb, mutton, chicken, eggs, duck, tomatoes, beans, sweet corn, squash, okra, peaches, melons, peppers, beets and more.

Lexington Farmers' Market at Cheapside Park from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 348 Southland Drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, will have seasonal fruits and vegetables, garlic, eggs, artisan cheeses and breads, honey and mushrooms, beef and chicken.

Bluegrass Farmers' Market, open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hamburg Liquor Barn, 1837 Plaudit Place, and Azur, 3070 Lakecrest Circle, will have summer vegetables including local tomatoes, beans and sweet corn and fruits including apples.
