The WKYT baby boom is well underway with reporter Kristen Kennedy and her husband, sports anchor and reporter Lee K. Howard, welcoming the first of four babies expected by the station’s reporters late this summer.

Kingston Howard came into the world Saturday morning weighing six pounds and measuring 19.75 inches, welcomed by Kennedy, Howard and big sister Meg.

“Everyone is doing great, and we’re excited for when Kristen and Lee K. are ready to bring their son by the newsroom to meet everyone,” WKYT news director Robert Thomas said in an email.

Also expecting in the WKYT newsroom are reporters Lauren Minor and Hillary Thornton, due in September. Minor is expecting twins. As a prelude, reporter Victor Puente and his wife Mandy welcomed Verasette Puente in April.

Kennedy is well known to WKYT viewers as the third anchor on “WKYT This Morning.”

While Kennedy is out, longtime reporter and anchor Miranda Combs will be filling in for her on the dawn patrol, starting Tuesday morning. Combs is the co-anchor of The CW’s 6:30 newscast on Channel 27-2 (Spectrum Ch. 5) with Sam Dick.

While Combs is working mornings, Dick will anchor the 6:30 news solo.
