Tonight's a night for returning series' season premieres with a pair of Fox mainstays and everyone's favorite international assassin, James Spader, on The Blacklist.

As usual, we have some color commentary here from TV Remote writer Chuck Barney.

8 p.m.

ABC. Grey's Anatomy

CBS. Thursday Night Football has an AFC North matchup in the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens. Bengals fans hope they both lose.

Fox. The Bones season premiere is a bit complex, so we turn to TV Guide: "Booth goes missing as the season begins six months after he and Brennan left their careers behind. But a case with ties to the couple pulls Brennan back into the world of forensic analysis, which brings her into contact with a member of Booth's family and Arastoo Vaziri, who's taken the lead at the Jeffersonian in her absence. Meanwhile, the FBI investigates Booth's disappearance, but one agent's tactics are bad for the team's morale."

NBC. Heroes Reborn.

9 p.m.

ABC. Scandal.

Fox. One of the more inventive shows of recent ilk, Sleepy Hollow, has survived to a third season.

NBC. The stakes are even higher as The Blacklist opens its third season. Liz (Megan Boone) and Red (James Spader) are on the run from the FBI and the Cabal after she killed the U.S. attorney general.

10 p.m.

ABC. How to Get Away with Murder.

NBC. The Player.

Note: With only one series premiere Friday and none Saturday, this feature will appear next on Sunday. See LexGo.com for a review of Friday's premiere, Dr. Ken (8:30 p.m. ABC).
