New DVD releases include ‘Saw V,' ‘Max Payne'

‘Saw V'

The horror franchise spills its latest blood. An unrated version of the film is available on DVD and Blu-ray, with featurettes on the various traps in the movie, plus commentary by director David Hackl and collaborators. The R-rated theatrical cut comes in a separate DVD edition, and the Blu-ray release has a copy for portable video players. A collector's edition DVD set has a photo booklet. ‘Max Payne'

This video-game adaptation starring Mark Wahlberg comes in its theatrical cut and an unrated version, with commentary by director John Moore. A special edition DVD and the Blu-ray release also have a digital copy, plus a making-of segment and an animated graphic novel. DVD, $29.98; special edition DVD, $34.98; Blu-ray, $39.99.

‘Igor'

The animated comedy has John Cusack voicing the title character. The DVD contains deleted footage and a behind-the-scenes featurette, and the Blu-ray disc has an alternative opening and commentary by director Tony Leondis. DVD, $29.99; Blu-ray, $39.99.

‘The Express'

Dennis Quaid and Rob Brown star in a drama about Syracuse football star Ernie Davis, who died of leukemia after graduating. DVD and Blu-ray extras include a segment with NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown and deleted scenes with commentary from director Gary Fleder. The Blu-ray disc also has a segment on the 50th anniversary of Syracuse's national championship. DVD, $29.98; Blu-ray, $39.98.

‘Magnificent Obsession,' ‘El Norte'

From the Criterion Collection comes Douglas Sirk's 1954 melodrama Magnificent Obsession, starring Rock Hudson and Jane Wyman. The two-disc DVD set includes the 1935 version starring Irene Dunne and Robert Taylor, and a documentary on Sirk and interviews with filmmakers Allison Anders and Kathryn Bigelow. Also out on DVD and Blu-ray is Gregory Nava's 1983 drama El Norte, which follows a brother and sister who journey to America from Guatemala. Nava provides commentary, and extras include a 1972 student film by Nava. DVDs, $39.95 each; El Norte Blu-ray, $39.95.

‘Repo! The Genetic Opera'

Paris Hilton is in this musical. Repo men reclaim organs from transplant recipients who fall behind on their payments. DVD, $19.98; Blu-ray, $29.98.
