Kentucky Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer wasn't kind to the media in a Facebook post Friday, but did not mention the pregnancy announcement a day earlier by his ex-fiancée, Bristol Palin.
Meyer, a former U.S. Marine who grew up in Adair County, referred in his post to terror attacks in France, Tunisia and Kuwait that killed dozens of people. Coverage of the attacks had been "overshadowed by the dog and pony show being put on here domestically by some politicians and mass media," Meyer, 27, said in the post.
"The news that feeds the 'inquiring mind (sic) want to know' is inconsequential compared to that which is truly relevant but lost on the back page," Meyer said.
The post included a picture of Meyer wearing robe, with a pipe in his mouth and a sword across his lap, reading a copy of the Marine handbook. The message "Still waiting ..." was written across the bottom of the photo.
Meyer was set to marry Palin, daughter of 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin, in Kentucky on May 23.
However, Sarah Palin announced on social media just days before that the wedding was off.
On Thursday, Bristol Palin disclosed via social media that she was pregnant with her second child.
The news that she was pregnant as an unmarried teen with her first son, Tripp, caused some heartburn when it emerged during the 2008 presidential race.
Palin said in public posts over the last few days that her she knew her latest pregnancy would be "a huge disappointment" to some, but said she had no regrets and wants no lectures or sympathy.
