Hotel guard stabbed in downtown Lexington

Radisson Hotel security guard Timothy Mitchell, 39, was stabbed in his left shoulder Monday night in downtown Lexington, police said.

Police said the guard, who lives in Lexington, was stabbed with a small knife, on the eighth floor of the Radisson at 369 West Vine Street.

Mitchell was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital to treat his injuries and was discharged Tuesday.

Police say they are looking for a slim white male, about 5-foot-9, with brown and gray hair. He has a tattoo on his neck and was wearing blue jeans and black shirt. He was also carrying a blue and orange backpack.

Police said the guard was making routine checks when he encountered the suspect, and upon asking if the man was a guest at the hotel he stabbed Mitchell and fled.
