Official reports are unavailable. But officers said that a car apparently crossed the center line of the highway, striking a motorcycle and then another car.
Kentucky State Police said the accident happened about 6:15 a.m. just south of the Jessamine County line. One person was killed, police said.
Troopers at the Richmond Post said that the wreck halted north and south traffic on U.S. 27 for more than three hours and that traffic was rerouted onto Ky. 753. The highway carries heavy commuter traffic.
Emergency crews were working the scene, and an investigation is continuing.
