Fourman, 41, told the officer that he was en route to the hospital because of an injury, police said. After the car failed to stop at the hospital, police pursued him as he continued west on the Cumberland Parkway.
Fourman eventually was stopped in Russell County after police used stop-sticks to blow out his tires.
He was treated at the Russell County Hospital for an injury and then was held in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
