The baby's mother, Joni Helton, 22, was found shortly, but her behavior indicated she might be on drugs, according to Somerset police. A search of the vehicle revealed Xanax pills.

Police charged Helton with endangering the welfare of a minor and drug possession. She was taken to the Pulaski County Detention Center.

The baby was released into the care of a grandparent.
