Victim of fiery wreck identified as Lexingtonian

Officials have identified the woman who died in a fiery wreck Sunday night near the Clark-Montgomery county line.

Cassandra Blanton, 24, of Lexington was killed in an accident that occurred about 9:45 p.m. on Interstate 64.

Investigators have released few details about the crash.

Blanton was the driver of the vehicle and the only person in it, Montgomery County coroner Wallace Johnson said.

Johnson said fire damage was so severe that he was unsure whether Blanton was wearing a seat belt, but she did remain inside the vehicle.

An autopsy is expected to be performed Monday in Frankfort.
