BEREA — A car accident on Ky. 21E left a Richmond man dead and a Berea man hospitalized on Thursday.
Michael B. Evans, 38, of Berea, was driving a 1997 Jeep west on the road when he ran off the left side of the road about 7:50 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The Jeep hit several trees. Evans was thrown from the vehicle, and his passenger, Adam K. Lake, 34, of Richmond was partially ejected. Lake died at the scene.
Evans was taken to Saint Joseph Berea hospital and transferred to University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. Neither of the men were wearing seat belts, police said.
