DANVILLE — Chyanne Shannon will soon be doing more than just selling America's favorite door-to-door snack.
She will be one of the faces of Girl Scout cookies across the country.

Chyanne, 11, of Danville was one of about 50 Girl Scouts in the Wilderness Road Council, which encompasses much of Kentucky, to be chosen as a model for next year's cookie marketing.
Chyanne, who is a member of Troop 1011, was at Camp Shawano in Jessamine County on Nov. 8 to take part in a photo shoot.
The Bate Middle School student will be featured in a national campaign that will include a Web site, billboards, banners and order cards for the cookies, among other things. Girl Scouts will begin taking orders on Jan. 9.
ABC Bakers, the "official Girl Scout Cookie bakers" since 1939, chooses one council in America every year to act as models.
Chyanne, who said her favorite cookie is the peanut butter patty, has been involved with the Girl Scouts for most of her young life. Despite a nearly seven-hour day of posing for cameras, she did not mind the spotlight.
"I love it," she said. "I have been here (Camp Shawano) before, and it is just like having fun at camp."
The level of excitement was just as great for her mother, Angela Miles, who entered her in the contest.
"I didn't tell her when I sent in her pictures and information in October, because I didn't even want her to know if she wasn't picked," Miles said. "When I found out, I was driving and I had to pull over and call people."
Wendy Henry, communication director for the Wilderness Road Council, took some pictures of her own at the photo shoot.
"This is a great thing for our council," she said. "They only choose one a year, and this is our first time. You never know if or when it will happen again, so we want to document as much as we can."
Henry noted that ABC brings in professionals from around the country, from the photographers to hair and makeup people.
Chyanne, a past winner of Little Miss Boyle County, was excited to receive the star treatment.
"She really gets into it," Miles said. "I can't believe how many people are involved in putting this together. It is a much bigger deal than I even thought."
Mary Alice Callaway is director of marketing for the Richmond, Va., bakery. She said getting Girl Scouts involved is the first priority.
"We believe in featuring real Girl Scouts in our material," she said. "We work with councils all over the country, from the west coast all the way back east. It is something that we are very proud of."
The marketing campaign Chyanne will be a part of is not your average bake sale. Since 1936, when the Girl Scouts first started using professional bakers to crank out cookies, the operation has grown into a multimillion dollar enterprise.
Callaway said ABC will produce about 90 million boxes of cookies a year, which the Girl Scouts will sell for $3.50 each.
