Her husband, Joshua Mock, 26, was charged with murder and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center, said Trooper Mike Goble of the Pikeville post.
The shooting occurred at 38 Dogwood Lane in Maytown, Goble said. No children were present, but at least one unidentified family member witnessed the incident.
The couple had been married "approximately one week, a very short period of time," Goble said. It was "just a domestic squabble. ... It ended up with him shooting her in the neck with a revolver. She died in the hospital."
"It's a terrible thing to happen on Thanksgiving," he added.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete.
