Lexington police have identified a 27-year-old man who died Thursday after his motorcycle slammed into a pickup in a suburban neighborhood in south Lexington.
Michael Allen Shopp of Lexington was northbound on Gladman Way about 3:30 p.m. when a white Ford F-250 truck turned left onto Tara Lane, police said.

"We're not clear at this point whether the pickup truck failed to yield or whether the motorcycle was traveling too fast. That will be determined later," said Sgt. Larry Casey, the supervisor on scene.
The motorcycle apparently went underneath the truck, Casey said.
Shopp was rushed to University of Kentucky Hospital, where he died about 4:15 p.m. Thursday from blunt-force trauma to the head and chest, according to the Fayette County Coroner's Office.
Shopp was wearing a helmet.
Leah Hemenway, 19, the driver of the truck, was not hurt.
Alcohol was not suspected as a factor, Casey said. He said it was unlikely that any charges would be filed.
