RICHMOND — A Richmond man who was pronounced dead after his car hit a tree appeared to have died from a health problem and not the crash.
Thomas Hackworth, 56, was driving east on Maple Grove Road about 3 p.m. Wednesday when he became ill and tried to pull his Jeep over to the side of the road, according to Kentucky State Police. The Jeep struck a tree. Hackworth was pronounced dead at the scene, but state police said they don't think Hackworth's death was connected to the collision. The final cause of death is pending the result of a toxicology report.
