Pikeville couple attacked in home

A Pikeville couple are recovering after they said two men attacked them in their home early Sunday, duct-taping the woman to a chair and wounding her with a knife.

According to Kentucky State Police, just after midnight two men asked to use the telephone at Angela and Ricky Hopkins' house on Shelby Dry Fork.

When Ricky Hopkins, 38, turned to get the phone, the two men came inside, attacked him, and demanded money and drugs.

Angela Hopkins, 30, heard the assault and came into the living room. According to the police report, the men tied her up in a chair with duct tape; one of the men cut her on the neck with a black-handled knife.

The two men left on foot with some of the couple's electronics and money. The Hopkinses were taken by ambulance to Pikeville Medical Center, where they were treated and discharged.

Kentucky State Police said they are looking for two white men, one of whom was described as about 6 feet, 200 pounds, mid- to late 20s, with a light-colored moustache and goatee, wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt. The second man was described as about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, slender, wearing a brown Carhartt-type jacket.
