Lexington crews battle house fire

Stratford Drive off Clays Mill Road was shut down Friday afternoon as fire crews extinguished a house fire.

No one was inside the house and no injuries were reported at 351 Stratford Drive, where fire and smoke damage appeared to be extensive.

Smoke poured out of the brick structure's windows and holes cut in the roof for ventilation.

The fire was reported at 11:55 a.m. and it was extinguished about 45 minutes later, Battalion Chief Harold Hoskins said.

The fire began in the rear living room or den, Hoskins said. Investigators had not yet determined a cause.
