Kentucky State Police on Friday arrested 32 people in Laurel and Whitley counties on a variety of drug charges.
Trooper Don Trosper, a spokesman at the London KSP post, said the arrests resulted from a nine-month investigation into illegal drug activity in the two counties.
Trosper said, however, that the arrests represent individual cases, and that the people arrested are not part of one overall organization.
Additional arrests are expected, state police said.
Those arrested Friday range from 21 to 72 years old and are charged with various counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.
Troopers were assisted in the arrests by officers from the federal Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Laurel County Sheriff's Department, and the Corbin and Williamsburg police departments.
